Data Center System Restoration Technician

The System Restoration Technician's role is to troubleshoot, document, and address hardware issues that arise on customer facing servers of varying management levels. Assist in various data center requests from checking servers at console to performing maintenance requests including but not limited to upgrades, downgrades, and relocations. In addition to data center requests data recovery and restoration tickets are received on a daily basis for completion.

As a System Restoration Technician you would:

  • Communicate clearly with customers via telephone, chat, and help desk (email) to provide exceptional support
  • Work with customers to properly diagnose and troubleshoot their requests to ensure that we are able to fully understand and resolve their issue
  • Install, manage, and troubleshoot systems related to our managed hosting products both remotely and via direct access
  • Provide support for a variety of third party software under our best effort umbrella
  • Monitor and address various relevant alarms/alerts
  • Plan and execute restorations using a variety of recovery methods and sources
  • Participate in the research, planning, and execution of customer maintenance to ensure completion and customer satisfaction
  • Create, review, and improve internal documentation
  • Keep apprised of pertinent current technological developments in order to be able to better stay on top of potential server issues
  • Participate in the incident management process as required to support overall issue resolution and system and/or service restoral as outlined in the Liquid Web Incident Management Process

You Have:

  • 1+ years relevant experience
  • Solid working knowledge of RPM-based Linux distributions
  • Experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the LAMP stack
  • Proven customer service acumen
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, emphasising tact and respect for customer understanding and expectations
  • Exemplary organizational skills and time-management
  • Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to appropriately prioritize tasks
  • RHCSA or equivalent/certification
  • Associate's degree in a related field, or comparable combination of education or relative experience
